Inflation/Prices
The household survey has been the basis for calculating the consumer price indices since 1974. At present, the Central Bureau of Statistics Curaçao calculates Consumer Price Indices based on the latest household expenditure survey, held in 2015/2016 for Curaçao.Prices of goods and services are constantly subject to change for various reasons. Price indices aim at providing a summary overview of these changes.
The Consumer Price Index reflects the changes in the prices of a basket of goods and services as consumed by family households in a certain base period. The Consumer Price Index is widely used as an indicator of inflationary trends in the economy and serves as a cost-of-living index.
